"Soft Gaze" is a commissioned pet portrait which I produced referencing a series of beautiful photographs supplied by my client, executed in pastel pencils on pastelmat textured card. Their stunning ragdoll cat had remarkable blue eyes, which I chose to emphasize by my choice of background color.
The reference photos were clearly focused and well lit, showing depth and texture. I chose a closer crop for this composition, to focus attentnion on the face rather than the rather impressive mane, while still giving the mane it's due.
