Max the Black Lab - Labrador Retriever Dog

This is a pastel portrait of Max, a lively 3 year old black labrador retriever, measuring 11" wide by 14" tall on sand-colored Pastelmat. The reference photo was chosen among several submitted by my client for this commission. I have owned a black lab dog myself, and they are a favorite dog breed. I was fortunate enough to meet Max before creating the portrait, and the experience of his sweet nature was fresh in my thoughts.
